Genderfae (also known as Genderdoe, Genderthell or Genderthil) is a form of genderfluidity in which an individual’s gender identity never encompasses male, masculine, or masculine-aligned genders. Instead, Genderfae individuals are fluid between any range of feminine genders, unaligned genders, neutral genders, or even genderlessness. This identity allows for the exploration of various non-masculine identities, embracing a fluid spectrum of gender expressions while intentionally excluding masculine or male identities.
Imagine someone whose gender changes, but always within the scope of feminine, neutral, or non-aligned genders. Alex identifies as Genderfae, meaning that while their gender may fluctuate, it never touches on masculinity. Some days, Alex might feel more aligned with a soft, feminine identity, choosing to express themselves through clothing or behaviors associated with femininity. Other days, they might feel genderless, with no strong attachment to any gender at all, or perhaps fluidly move between various neutral and unaligned identities. However, no matter how much Alex’s gender shifts, masculinity never becomes part of their experience. One morning, Alex might feel particularly feminine, dressing in ways that embrace that side of themselves, while the next, they may feel more androgynous or neutral, blending elements of softness with gender neutrality. For Alex, being Genderfae means freedom to explore non-masculine identities, celebrating the beauty of feminine, neutral, and unaligned genders in a dynamic, ever-changing way. This fluid experience gives Alex the flexibility to express their identity on their own terms, without the confines of traditional gender expectations.
