September 1: Constitution Day (Slovakia)

Constitution Day is observed in Slovakia every September 1, celebrating the adoption of the Slovak Constitution in Bratislava on September 1, 1992. The constitution, which was quickly prepared based on the Czechoslovak Constitution of 1920, was passed by the Slovak National Council and has been amended five times since its adoption. It consists of a preamble and nine parts, totaling 156 articles, with a notable ecological orientation that addresses ecological rights in Slovakia. On this public holiday, various fairs are organized where handmade souvenirs can be purchased, and music festivals and concerts take place across the country, allowing citizens to engage in festive activities.
