Flag-Flying Day for Denmark’s Deployed Personnel is observed in Denmark every September 5. This day honors members of the Danish Defense who serve in humanitarian missions and peacekeeping operations, acknowledging their contribution to the fight against international terrorism. Established in 2009, it is distinct from other military flag-flying days that commemorate historical battles. On this day, all public institutions in Denmark are required to fly the national flag from 8 a.m. until sunset, with many private companies and individuals also participating as a sign of respect. The day features various events such as church services, parades, receptions, and memorial ceremonies to honor deployed personnel. As of May 2018, there were just over 800 Danish soldiers deployed, emphasizing their role in supporting international peacekeeping efforts.
