National Cellulite Day is observed worldwide every September 5. It was created to dispel the stigma surrounding cellulite and encourage women to embrace their bodies with perceived imperfections. The day aims to normalize cellulite, which is a natural physiological condition caused by the herniation of fat under the skin, resulting in lumps and dimples most commonly found on the thighs, hips, and abdomen. The concept of cellulite has been commercialized since the 1920s by the beauty industry, which promoted it as a cosmetic issue. Celebrating National Cellulite Day involves spreading body positivity and helping others understand that most women have cellulite, regardless of body type, and that it should not be a source of embarrassment. The initiative was launched by Penny Pinar Karabey, founder of the online boutique Luxury Next Season.
