Prince's Day, or Prinsjesdag, is observed in the Netherlands every third Tuesday of September. This day marks the ceremonial opening of a new parliamentary year, where the monarch arrives in the Golden Carriage, accompanied by court dignitaries and a military escort, at the Binnenhof in The Hague. During the event, the reigning monarch delivers a solemn speech from the throne at 1 P.M., outlining the government's plans and proposing the national budget for the upcoming year. Historically, Prinsjesdag referred to various public holidays related to significant events in the royal family's life, but it has now become synonymous with this particular occasion. After the ceremony, the monarch returns to the palace and greets the gathered crowd from the balcony.
