Persian Literature and Poetry Day is observed in Iran every September 18, commemorating the contributions of Mohammad-Hossein Shahriar, a prominent contemporary poet. The date was chosen to coincide with Shahriar's death anniversary, as he was an influential figure in both Persian and Azerbaijani literature. His poetry, characterized by the use of colloquial language, resonated deeply with the common people. Shahriar was born in 1906 in Tabriz, where he is now buried in the Mausoleum of Poets.
