Oil Industry Workers' Day is observed in Azerbaijan every September 20. This professional holiday was established in 2001 by Ilham Aliyev, the fourth President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The day commemorates the signing of a significant production sharing agreement in 1994, which brought over 57 billion U.S. dollars to Azerbaijan for the exploration and development of its oil deep-water fields. This agreement played a crucial role in the advancement of the oil industry and the overall economy of the country. On this day, workers in the oil industry receive congratulations from relatives, friends, colleagues, and government authorities. Although it is a recognized professional holiday, it is not a non-working holiday unless it falls on a weekend.
