World Minigolf Day, also known as Miniature Golf Day, is observed worldwide every September 21. This day celebrates the putting aspect of golf, which has its roots in Scotland, where the modern game originated in the 15th century. Miniature golf, focusing solely on putting, is believed to have started at the St Andrews Ladies’ Putting Club in 1867, the first golf club for female players. The game gained popularity in the early 20th century with the introduction of standardized minigolf courses featuring artificial obstacles. Although it declined in the United States during the Great Depression, minigolf flourished in Europe, particularly in Sweden, where the Swedish Minigolf Federation was established in 1937. On World Minigolf Day, people often engage in playing minigolf, watching tournaments, or sharing their experiences on social media using the hashtags #WorldMinigolfDay and #MiniatureGolfDay.
