Cinnamon Roll Day, or Kanelbullens dag, is observed in Sweden every October 4. Established in 1999 by Kaeth Gard, the project manager of Hembakningsrådet, this holiday aims to highlight the traditional Swedish cinnamon bun and promote the consumption of yeast, flour, butter, and sugar. The date was chosen to avoid competition with other culinary traditions in Sweden, such as crayfish and herring. On this day, restaurants and shops engage in numerous advertisements encouraging customers to order or buy cinnamon buns. Originally, October 4 was also recognized as International Children's Day, with the cinnamon bun symbolizing care for children.
