World Cerebral Palsy Day, observed worldwide every October 6, aims to support the millions of individuals living with cerebral palsy (CP) and advocate for their rights and opportunities. Launched in 2012 by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance in Australia and United Cerebral Palsy in the United States, the day has garnered support from over 450 organizations across 65 countries. The inaugural event featured the motto “Change My World in 1 Minute,” inviting people to submit ideas for products and technologies to improve the lives of those with CP. A notable outcome was the design of a solar-powered wheelchair by researchers from the University of Virginia, which was presented to the idea's author on the subsequent World Cerebral Palsy Day. The day highlights the challenges faced by individuals with CP, including various physical and cognitive impairments, and promotes access to treatment and management options to enhance their quality of life.
