World Vasectomy Day is observed worldwide every November 16, aiming to promote vasectomy as a male-oriented solution to prevent unwanted pregnancies. The event was inaugurated in 2012 by American filmmaker Jonathan Stack, who sought to encourage men’s involvement in family planning and educate them about vasectomies as a means to relieve women of birth control responsibilities. The first celebration took place on November 16, 2013, when Dr. Douglas Stein performed the world’s first live-streamed vasectomy at the Royal Institution of Australia. Since then, surgeons globally have participated in the event, connecting through social media to perform vasectomies. In 2017, over 1,200 doctors from 50 countries joined the initiative, highlighting its international reach and significance.
