Hydrometeorological Service Workers' Day is observed in Ukraine every November 19. Established in 2003 by President Leonid Kuchma, this professional day honors the contributions of hydrometeorological service workers. The Meteorological Service of Ukraine, founded in 1921 and later merged with the Hydrological Service to form the Hydrometeorological Committee, plays a crucial role in this observance. The Hydrometeorological Center of the State Emergency Service is the main organization responsible for conducting meteorological research and implementing state policy in hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring, employing over 5,000 individuals. Ukraine is also a member of the World Meteorological Organization, an intergovernmental body with 191 member countries, which underscores the importance of meteorological services globally.
