General Framework Agreement Day is observed in the Republika Srpska on November 21 each year. This public holiday commemorates the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, commonly known as the Dayton Agreement, which ended the Bosnian War that lasted for three and a half years. The agreement established the modern constitutional structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina, creating two autonomous entities: the Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also set up a Presidency consisting of one Bosniak, one Croat, and one Serb representative as the highest administrative body. The day serves as a celebration of the autonomy and peace brought about by the agreement, although issues related to peace and war continue to affect the region.
