International STAND UP to Bullying Day is observed worldwide on the last Friday of February and the third Friday of November. This semi-annual event aims to take a public stance against bullying, which is defined as repeated, aggressive behavior intended to harm another person. The initiative began in 2007 when two Canadian high school students, Travis Price and David Shepherd, supported a new student being bullied for wearing a pink shirt by distributing pink tank tops to their classmates, making the pink shirt a symbol of anti-bullying efforts. The first International STAND UP to Bullying Day took place in February 2008, with over 200 schools and organizations participating by wearing pink "pledge shirts." Participants are encouraged to wear pink and share their involvement on social media, as well as organize anti-bullying events to support victims. This observance is part of a broader movement that includes similar initiatives like the International Day of Pink and Canada’s Pink Shirt Day.
