November 23: Traffic Police Day (Kazakhstan)

Traffic Police Day is observed in Kazakhstan every November 23, celebrating the work of police officers responsible for traffic control and road safety. The origins of the traffic police in Kazakhstan date back to the late 19th century when village constables monitored road conditions and safety. In 1936, the State Automobile Inspectorate was established as part of the NKVD to prevent traffic accidents and enforce traffic laws. Following the dissolution of the USSR, Kazakhstan created its own traffic police agency on November 23, 1992, marking this date as the "birthday" of the traffic police. Although the traffic police merged with the patrol police in 2013 to form the administrative police, officers still commemorate their professional holiday annually.
