Mari Alphabet Day is observed in the Mari El Republic of the Russian Federation every December 10. The holiday has been celebrated annually since its establishment by the government of Mari El in 1990. Notably, the final versions of the Hill Mari and Meadow Mari alphabets were approved in 1938, and the Northwestern Mari alphabet was created in 1995.
