Customs Officers’ Day is observed in Tajikistan every January 22 to commemorate the founding anniversary of the Customs Service of Tajikistan. Established by the Law on Holidays, this professional holiday recognizes the evolution of customs authorities in the country, which began in 1987 with the creation of an operational customs control department. The official formation of the Customs Service occurred on January 22, 1992, following Tajikistan's independence from the Soviet Union. Celebrations typically include the swearing-in of new customs officers and ceremonies honoring employees who have excelled in their duties. The Customs Service, currently known as the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, plays a vital role in regulating imports and exports, combating customs violations, and controlling the export of strategically important goods. Notably, International Customs Day is celebrated just four days later, on January 26.
