Youth Day (Sha’aban)

Youth Day is observed in Iran every year on Sha'aban 11 of the Hijri calendar, coinciding with the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Ali Akbar, the son of Imam Hussein. This holiday highlights the significance of youth, who constitute about 50% of Iran's population, with individuals aged 15 to 29 making up nearly one-third. The day is marked by various activities and events organized by the government, which focus on addressing the challenges faced by young people, such as smoking, drug addiction, HIV, unemployment, and access to quality education. These events often involve families and aim to improve the overall well-being of the youth. The government selects a specific theme each year to guide the celebrations and discussions surrounding these issues.
