Rheumatoid Awareness Day is observed worldwide every February 2. Established in 2013 by the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on improving the lives of individuals suffering from rheumatoid diseases, the day aims to recognize those affected by rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and educate the public about the condition. RA is a chronic autoimmune disorder that primarily impacts joints, leading to painful and deformed joints, and affects between 0.5 and 1% of adults in developed countries, particularly those of middle age. While there is no cure for RA, existing treatments, such as medication and physical therapy, aim to slow the progression of joint destruction and alleviate pain. On this day, the Rheumatoid Patient Foundation encourages participation in awareness campaigns, sharing educational resources, and engaging in relevant events to foster understanding of rheumatoid diseases.
