February 21: Robert Mugabe National Youth Day (Zimbabwe)

Robert Mugabe National Youth Day is observed in Zimbabwe every February 21. This public holiday commemorates the birthday of Robert Mugabe, the country's first president, who ruled for 37 years. The holiday was initiated by the Youth League of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF), the ruling party, and is supported by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The day celebrates Mugabe's accomplishments and his role in empowering the youth of Zimbabwe. The ZANU–PF Youth League has celebrated his birthday since the establishment of the 21st February Movement in 1986. Despite Mugabe's controversial legacy and resignation in 2017, the holiday continues to honor his positive image and influence within the nation.
