Scouts’ Day, also known as Chinese Scout Day, is observed in Taiwan every March 5. This day commemorates the founding of the Boy Scouts of China in Guangzhou in 1916. The scouting movement in Taiwan began in 1912, shortly after the establishment of the Republic of China, with the first troop organized by Reverend Yen Chia-lin. The General Association of the Scouts of China, which celebrates this day as its founding anniversary, was formally reorganized in 1934, with Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek as its first president. Today, the Scouts of China has approximately 54,000 members and offers various youth programs divided by age, including Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Senior Scouts. The Association also includes a Sea Scout program.
