Steak & BJ Day, also known as Steak and Blowjob Day or Steak and Knobber Day, is an unofficial satirical holiday observed worldwide every March 14. It is purportedly a male response to Valentine’s Day, created by radio DJ Tom Birdsey in 2002 during a broadcast on WFNX in Boston, Massachusetts. On this day, women are expected to prepare or order a steak and engage in sexual acts with men, as a counter to the gifts of flowers and chocolates received on Valentine’s Day. However, the holiday is largely considered an Internet meme rather than a widely celebrated event, with criticisms labeling it as anti-feminist and emblematic of male privilege. Some suggest alternative celebrations for women, such as Chicken and Licking Day on March 15 or 21, and Cake and Cunnilingus Day on April 14.
