The Day of the Landless, observed worldwide every March 29, highlights the struggles for land and resources faced by rural communities. Established in 2015 by the Asian Peasant Coalition (APC) and PAN Asia Pacific, the date commemorates the founding anniversary of the APC and the launch of the “No Land, No Life!” campaign. The APC, formed after the Asian Peasants Conference in the Philippines in 2003, advocates for the rights of landless peasants, farmers, agricultural workers, and indigenous peoples across 11 Asian countries. Events organized on this day include meetings, rallies, discussions, protests, and social media campaigns aimed at addressing issues such as hunger, displacement, and human rights abuses. The Day of the Landless has garnered support from over 100 organizations across five regions, emphasizing the ongoing challenges of land inequality and modern imperialism.
