Micronesian Culture and Traditions Day is observed in Micronesia every March 31. This national holiday was established to honor the cultural and traditional heritage of the islands, initiated by Congress and President Emanuel “Manny” Mori. The day emphasizes the importance of cultural values and identity in promoting national unity and security, especially in times of economic instability. Various celebrations are sponsored by the government to remind the populace of their diverse cultural backgrounds, which include the Carolinian, Chamorro, Chuukese, Kaping, and Nauruan peoples, each with their own unique languages, histories, traditions, and beliefs. The preservation of this cultural diversity is deemed crucial for the Federated States of Micronesia.
