National Rubber Day is observed in Thailand every April 10, celebrating the significance of the rubber industry to the country's economy. Established in 2004 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the inaugural celebration took place in 2005. The day highlights the importance of natural rubber, a product derived from the rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), which is essential in various applications such as car tires and gloves. Thailand is the world's largest producer and exporter of natural rubber, with approximately 3.5 million hectares of rubber tree plantations and an annual production of about 4.3–5 million tons. The event aims to address the challenges faced by the rubber industry, including overproduction, price drops, and environmental issues. It also seeks to consolidate efforts to support the approximately 1.4 million households engaged in rubber farming.
