Established by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the day commemorates the anniversary of the Ukrainian strike on the Russian missile cruiser Moskva in 2022, which marked the first successful use of Neptune missiles in combat. The event highlights the significance of the military-industrial complex, which is represented by the state-owned conglomerate Ukrainian Defense Industry (formerly Ukroboronprom), founded in 2010.
