Veterans' Day of Internal Affairs Bodies and Internal Troops is observed in Russia every April 17. Established in 2010 and celebrated annually since 2011, this professional holiday marks the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Internal Affairs Body and Internal Troops. The organization was founded in 1991 to unite veterans of these bodies. On this day, veterans receive congratulations and participate in various ceremonies to honor their service. The holiday was instituted by Rashid Nurgaliyev, the head of the Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation, to promote respect for the law and facilitate the sharing of experiences between veterans and young police officers.
