Vietnam Book Day is observed nationwide in Vietnam every April 21. Established in 2014 by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, this holiday celebrates the significance of books in education and social life while promoting a reading culture in the country. The date was chosen to commemorate the publication of one of the first Vietnamese books, “Duong Cach Menh” (Revolutionary Road) by Ho Chi Minh. The day also aligns with World Book and Copyright Day on April 23, as designated by UNESCO. Various events are organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, including book festivals, exhibitions, book exchanges, and seminars, all aimed at honoring authors, editors, publishers, and librarians involved in the book industry.
