Sati Sadhani Day, observed in Assam, is celebrated every April 21 to honor Queen Sati Sadhani, the last ruler of the Chutia Kingdom. This annual holiday commemorates her valor and sacrifices during a conflict with the neighboring Ahom Kingdom in the early 16th century. Sadhani, who took charge after her husband Nitipal's ineffective rule, led a guerrilla campaign against the invaders and formed a female squad of warriors. Ultimately, she chose death over captivity, which solidified her legacy. The day serves not only as a remembrance of her bravery but also as an occasion for the Government of Assam to present the annual Sati Sadhani Award for outstanding contributions to art, culture, and literature.
