Wednesday of the last full week of April: Administrative Professionals’ Day

Administrative Professionals’ Day, also known as Secretaries Day or Admin Day, is observed in North America every year on the Wednesday of the last full week of April. This informal professional observance recognizes the contributions of administrative support professionals, including administrative assistants, professional secretaries, and customer service representatives. The holiday originated in the early 1950s, initiated by Marry Barrett and C. King Woodbridge, due to concerns about the shortage of skilled office workers. National Secretaries Week was first proclaimed in 1952 and was later renamed Professional Secretaries Week in 1981 before adopting its current name in 2000. Today, it is coordinated by the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), making it one of the largest workplace observances in the United States.
