Working Mothers Day is observed in the United States on the Friday before Mother’s Day, celebrating the approximately 70% of women with minor children who work, whether full-time or part-time. Established in 2018 by the Girl Scouts Heart of the South, the day aims to honor the contributions and sacrifices of working mothers, who often manage an average of 14-hour days filled with work, childcare, and household responsibilities. Activities during this observance include writing letters of appreciation, sending gifts, or treating working mothers to lunch. Additionally, working mothers are encouraged to take a break and enjoy pampering from family and friends, or to connect with other working moms to share experiences. Participants can also wear green and use the hashtag #WorkingMothersDay on social media to show their support. This holiday should not be confused with National Working Moms Day, which is celebrated on March 12.
