World Redhead Day is observed worldwide every May 26, celebrating individuals with naturally red hair, who make up less than 2% of the global population. The day aims to combat prejudice and stereotypes associated with redheads, which have varied throughout history, from being persecuted as witches in the Middle Ages to being fashionable during the Elizabethan era due to Queen Elizabeth I's red hair. To celebrate, redheads are encouraged to treat themselves to haircuts, post selfies on social media with the hashtag #WorldRedheadDay, or even dye their hair red. Other activities include sharing photos of red-haired celebrities, binge-watching films featuring red-haired actors, and reading books with redhead characters. World Redhead Day should not be confused with other events like the Redhead Days festival in Tilburg, Netherlands, which occurs in August, or other holidays such as National Love Your Red Hair Day and Kiss a Ginger Day.
