World Multiple Sclerosis Day, also known as World MS Day, is observed worldwide every May 30. Established by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation, it aims to support individuals living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and their families. The day was first celebrated in 2009 and was originally observed on the last Wednesday in May before being moved to May 30. The campaign is supported by nearly 50 MS organizations globally and focuses on raising funds to support MS research and advocating for those affected by the condition. Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disorder that damages the myelin sheath covering nerve cells, leading to various symptoms such as vision impairment, coordination issues, and muscle weakness. Currently, around 2.3 million people are affected by MS worldwide, with many more potentially undiagnosed.
