Pentecost (Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Georgia, Greece and Cyprus)

Pentecost in Eastern Christianity is observed worldwide, celebrated fifty days after Easter. This feast commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the followers of Jesus Christ and is regarded as one of the twelve Orthodox Great Feasts, second only to Easter. The celebration begins with an All-night vigil on the eve of Pentecost, followed by the Divine Liturgy on the day itself. The feast lasts for three days, encompassing Trinity Sunday, Spirit Monday, and the Third Day of the Trinity. During this time, Orthodox churches are adorned with greenery and flowers, with green as the liturgical color. A notable custom includes the extraordinary Kneeling Prayer service on the night of Pentecost, where participants touch their foreheads to the floor, a practice not permitted from Pascha to Pentecost. Additionally, Pentecost is a public holiday in several Christian countries, with the following Monday observed as a day off.
