Lovers' Day, or Dia dos Namorados, is observed in Brazil every June 12. The date was chosen because it falls on the eve of the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of marriage, known for reconciling couples and blessing them with happy unions. The celebration features home and street decorations, carnivals, music, and dancing, making it a vibrant occasion. Lovers' Day was established to avoid the overshadowing of Valentine's Day by the Brazilian Carnival, which typically occurs around February 14.
