Bloomsday, celebrated every June 16, commemorates the life of Irish writer James Joyce and the events of his novel Ulysses, which took place on the same date in 1904. The name "Bloomsday" is derived from Leopold Bloom, the protagonist of Ulysses. The major celebrations occur in Dublin, where fans retrace the route taken by Bloom in the novel, participating in a street festival that includes a five-hour reading of the book. Notably, one of the largest events featured a free open-air full Irish breakfast served to 10,000 Dubliners. Bloomsday is also observed worldwide, with festivals held in countries such as Hungary, the USA, Italy, and Australia.
