Last Sunday of June: Day of Youth and Children’s Public Organizations

The Day of Youth and Children’s Public Organizations is observed in Ukraine on the last Sunday of June every year. This holiday celebrates the efforts of employees and volunteers working in organizations dedicated to children and youth, which are defined as voluntary associations for citizens aged 6 to 35. The day was established by President Viktor Yushchenko in 2008 to promote the development of youth movements in Ukraine and has undergone changes in its observance date over the years. Events such as concerts, sports competitions, and fundraisers are organized, particularly at children’s summer camps and youth recreational centers, to recognize the hard work of these organizations. One notable organization involved is the Plast National Scout Organization, founded in 1911, which is the largest youth organization in Ukraine. The holiday aims to foster community engagement and attract new members to various children’s and youth organizations across the country.
