The Day of Civil Servants and Government Officials is observed in Hungary every July 1. This official professional holiday was established in 1997 following the proposal by the Trade Union of Hungarian Civil Servants and Public Employees, coinciding with the enactment of the Act on the Status of Civil Servants in 1992. The first celebration took place in 1997, and it became an official holiday in 2001, later being recognized by the National Assembly in 2011 as a non-working day for public sector employees. The day honors the contributions of civil servants and government officials in Hungary. Training for these professionals is conducted at the National University of Public Servants in Budapest, which aims to educate future public administration officials and enhance the skills of current employees across various faculties and institutes.
