July Morning is a unique observance celebrated every July 1 along the coast of the Black Sea in Bulgaria. The tradition originated in the 1980s, inspired by the popularity of the song "July Morning" by the rock band Uriah Heep. Initially celebrated by hippies in the Port of Varna, Bulgaria's largest sea complex port, it has since spread to various beach locations. On this day, many people travel to the Black Sea to witness the sunrise, gathering around campfires to play music and share drinks while waiting for the first rays of the sun. The celebration is particularly popular among students, marking the start of their summer break. Although there have been attempts to commercialize the event, they have largely failed due to the absence of a single designated location for the celebration.
