Forensic Expert Day is observed in Ukraine every July 4, celebrating the significant contributions of forensic experts to the justice system. Established in 2009 by President Viktor Yushchenko, the holiday recognizes the vital role of forensic scientists, who gather and examine evidence used in court. The initiative for this professional holiday was proposed by the Coordinating Council on Forensics under the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, which the President supported through a decree. Forensic experts, numbering around 6,000 in Ukraine, are noted for their methodical and unbiased work, often testifying as expert witnesses in legal proceedings. The day serves to honor their dedication and expertise in various fields of forensic science, including forensic investigation and toxicology.
