Navy Day and Sea and River Fleet Day are observed in Ukraine every first Sunday of July. These two professional holidays were established by President Petro Poroshenko in June 2015, while Sea and River Fleet Day originally dates back to 1993 under President Leonid Kravchuk. Navy Day was added in 2006 by President Viktor Yushchenko, who later merged the two holidays into Ukrainian Fleet Day, celebrated on the last Sunday of July until it was separated again by Poroshenko. The reestablishment of Navy Day is viewed as a significant step in reforming the Ukrainian Naval Forces, which suffered losses during the Crimean Crisis. Celebrations typically involve honoring the country's naval forces, with notable locations including the ports of Odessa and Mariupol, where remaining naval units were relocated.
