The celebration began in 1990 and is presided over by the King of Cambodia, who plants at least one tree each year. The ceremony takes place in various provinces, ensuring that environmental protection efforts are recognized throughout the country. Senior officials, representatives from non-governmental organizations, students, and local residents also participate in the event, planting trees after the King. Annually, over 20,000 trees are planted, with seedlings distributed among nature care organizations and schools, highlighting the collective effort in preserving Cambodia's natural resources.
