Deceased Medics Remembrance Day, also known as the Day of Remembrance for Fallen Medical Workers, is observed in Ukraine every July 10. Established in 2025, the day honors the memory of all military and civilian medical workers who died during the full-scale war with Russia, including combat medics and civilian medics who lost their lives while providing assistance. The observance was initiated by the Order of St. Panteleimon, which recognizes medical professionals for their contributions and organizes events to support them. As of July 2025, at least 500 medical workers had died since the onset of the Russian invasion in February 2022. To commemorate these individuals, the Ukrainian League for the Development of Hospice and Palliative Care founded the initiative Posvit pam’yati (Light of Memory), which includes creating memorials, holding remembrance events, and providing support to the families of the deceased. On this day, hospitals across Ukraine observe a moment of silence, marked by the sound of a heart stopping, to honor the fallen medical workers.
