Claveria Day (Araw ng Claveria) is observed in the municipality of Claveria, Misamis Oriental, Philippines, every July 22. This special non-working holiday commemorates the town's founding anniversary, which dates back to its establishment as an independent municipality in 1950. The settlement, originally named Tikala, was renamed Claveria in honor of Narciso Clavería y Zaldúa, a Spanish governor-general. The holiday is marked by various festive events, including the annual Mais Festival, which celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Higaonon tribe and pays tribute to corn, the main crop of the area. Claveria is primarily agricultural, producing crops such as coffee, rice, and pineapples, and is home to the Mindanao Silk Mulberry Farm and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines – Claveria Campus. The day serves to promote local traditions and the community's agricultural roots.
