Acevoid is a label for asexual and ace-spec individuals who feel neutral or indifferent toward any other orientation; they identify solely as asexual. Acevoid individuals do not have other orientations, such as romantic, platonic, or sensual, accompanying their asexual identity. They experience being asexual without any additional forms of attraction or relationship orientations. The romantic counterpart to acevoid is arovoid.
Finn identifies as acevoid, recognizing that while many people within the asexual community also identify with romantic, platonic, or other orientations, he does not. Finnās experience is purely asexual, with no additional attractions or desires for romantic or other types of relationships. One day, during a group discussion about romantic identities, Finnās friends were sharing their experiences of love and deep platonic bonds. When asked about his perspective, Finn said, āIām just asexual, nothing more. I donāt really feel those other types of attractions.ā For a long time, Finn felt out of place, believing that being asexual should come with additional qualifiers. Discovering the term acevoid was liberating; it gave him a clear way to express his unique experience. Embracing his acevoid identity allowed Finn to feel seen and understood without needing to explain why he didnāt have romantic or other attractions. Now, Finn feels confident in his orientation, knowing that his asexual identity is complete on its own and doesnāt need any additional labels to validate his experience.
