National Drive Electric Month is observed from September 12 to October 12 and was founded by Plug In America in partnership with the Sierra Club and the Electric Vehicle Association. Initially starting as National Plug-In Day, it evolved into National Drive Electric Week before becoming a month-long celebration. The event aims to promote electric vehicles (EVs) and raise awareness about their benefits, such as reduced carbon footprints and decreasing prices. Participants can celebrate by driving electric, sharing experiences on social media, attending various events like car shows and educational seminars, or even organizing their own local events. The initiative has expanded globally, reaching countries like Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and is supported by the U.S. Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
