Marine Mammal Rescue Day is observed annually on April 27, primarily in the United States, to raise awareness about the challenges faced by marine mammals such as dolphins, seals, whales, and sea otters. The day encourages individuals to donate or volunteer with various organizations dedicated to the protection and rescue of these creatures, which are increasingly threatened by pollution, climate change, and other human activities. Notable organizations include the Marine Mammal Care Center in Los Angeles and the International Marine Mammal Project in Berkeley. The Marine Mammal Rescue Center in Sausalito, California, also plays a significant role by providing education and information to the public. Celebrating this day involves supporting marine mammal conservation efforts and spreading awareness about the importance of these animals in underwater ecosystems.
