National Tree Planting Day (NTPD) is observed in Pakistan every August 18. Established in 2009 by the government and president of Pakistan, this holiday aims to address deforestation and environmental issues. The day commemorates a Guinness World Record set on July 15, 2009, when 300 volunteers planted 541,176 mangrove saplings in a single day without mechanical equipment. In subsequent years, Pakistan reclaimed the record by planting approximately 750,000 mangrove saplings in just over 12 hours. Activities for NTPD are organized by the Ministry of Environment, and citizens are encouraged to participate in tree planting events across the country. The holiday garners significant media attention and is supported by a large awareness campaign.
