The flag, originally introduced by Francisco de Miranda and adopted by the National Congress in 1811, features three horizontal stripes of yellow, blue, and red. These colors symbolize the nation's wealth, courage, and independence from Spain, respectively. Over the years, the flag has undergone several modifications, including changes to the arrangement and number of stars, as well as the optional addition of a coat of arms. Prior to 2006, Flag Day was celebrated on March 12, but the date was changed to honor the historical significance of the flag's first display.
