December 2: Women’s Brain Health Day (Canada)

Women’s Brain Health Day is observed in Canada every December 2. Launched in 2019 by the Women’s Brain Health Initiative (WBHI), this awareness campaign aims to highlight the disproportionate impact of brain health conditions on women compared to men. The initiative addresses issues such as gender bias in medical research and diagnosis, where women's symptoms are often overlooked or misdiagnosed. Women account for two-thirds of Alzheimer’s patients, yet only a small percentage of research funding is directed towards women-focused studies. On this day, WBHI organizes in-person and online events to educate the public about women’s brain health and raise funds for related research. Participants can engage by attending events, organizing their own, donating to relevant organizations, and sharing information on social media using the hashtag #WomensBrainHealthDay.
